Before you develop a squeeze page, a thank you page, or a download page, you need some type of opt-in bait so that you can turn even your cheap solo ads traffic into leads.
Where to get your give away?
In a perfect world, you should create the giveaway yourself.
You want your giveaway to be unique. Don’t give away a piece of junk, because then any serious subscriber will recognize it for what it is.
Also, I’m all about actionable content, which is why I think infographics make awesome gifts, and I’ll talk more about that in a second.
Also, I’ve personally had great luck giving away statistics.
For example, one time I conducted a solo ad case study, and then gave that away as a free gift and people loved it. It was real data, it was something that you couldn’t get anywhere else, and I knew that my end users would absolutely loved it.
And if you’re not a good writer, and just don’t have the time to make an awesome give away, then hire somebody on Fiverr to create something useful for your end users.
I’m not going to recommend giving away a low quality piece of white label or private label rights content, because you want your give away to be unique, and actually valuable for your end users.
You only get a first impression once, so make sure that your free give away is actually worth the time of your end users.
The cool thing about crafting your gift idea, is that once you go over the previous post, this will be so easy.
I can tell you that one of the most popular gifts I ever gave away was two ebooks on how to drive traffic.
And if you learn one thing from me, learn this; people who receive solo ads LOVE traffic. Traffic is always a hot topic, if you’re in the traffic niche, you’re in a good niche.
Think about it. Every human on the planet who markets anything, or runs any type of website or business needs and loves traffic.
Traffic is addicting, every business on the planet needs more and more traffic, so traffic has historically done very well for me with solo ads.
I had a simple squeeze page that promoted two free traffic books and the opt-in rates were absolutely killer, I was averaging about 70% opt-in rate for a good stretch of time.
But, once you figure out who your end users are, and what they want, this should be easy.
Another thing you could do, is design an infographic, or have someone on Fiverr design an infographic.
You might be thinking that an infographic is a lousy gift, but here’s the thing. Most people never even read or consume the books that you give away as a gift. That’s the sad fact.
How many books do you have on your computer that you’ve never read. I know I have several Terabytes of data that I’ve never even looked at.
So if you give them a cool looking infographic, at least they’ll consume it. They’re more likely to get something out of it in my opinion.
And by the way, if you’re offering an infographic as a free gift, never say it’s an infographic on the squeeze page.
Instead, say something like this:
“100% free download, find out my proven system to XYZ”.
And maybe it’s a proven system to get unstoppable amounts of traffic, a proven system to master affiliate marketing fast, a proven method to publish your content 20x quicker, or whatever.
The point is, always promote the result of your infographic and not the infographic itself, in my experience it will convert better.
And if you do give away a PDF report or something like that, make sure that the report is at least small.
Because, again, if it’s a 10,000 word report, your end users are almost guaranteed not to read it.
It’s human nature.
People love getting free stuff, people are addicted to it like some type of drug, it’s an addiction to get free stuff.
The issue is that most people won’t read the report, so make the report small, or give them an infographic.
One other option you have is to give them software, plugins, maybe a WordPress theme or something like that, because as you know WordPress and plugins have a high perceived value, and maybe your end users will actually put them to use.
In the following posts I’m going to show you some really cool tricks on how to monetize your download page, how to route your entire funnel, and of course how to put everything together so that it’s a well-oiled machine.
For now, start brainstorming give away ideas, and if you have any questions at all don’t hesitate to give me a buzz.
I’ll see you in the next post, where I’m going to dive right into building some funnel material, so let’s roll up our sleeves and get to work.
